Insecure Season One Cast "Where Are They Now?"
Five seasons of ups and downs with some of our favorite characters in HBO history is finally coming to a close and we are reminiscing heavily! With the premiere of season five of Insecure here I'm sure I'm not the only person that went back down memory lane to watch all the previous seasons. In fact, I know I'm not the only one because Issa Rae herself hosted watch parties for Insecure fans to get ready for the final farewell. With that being said there were many characters that I forgot I loved and wondered where are these actors now. Let's get into our list of cast members from season one that are doing greater things now.
Anthony Alabi - Fast Mike
Better known as Fast Mike, Anthony Alabi, appeared in one episode of Insecure as one of the many men Molly dated at the beginning of the season. He was moved on from being a wine connoisseur to being the star of his own show the Netflix show Family Reunion starring Tia Mowry-Hardict, Loretta Devine, and Richard Roundtree. Since his appearance on Insecure he's also appeared in Raven's Home, Black-ish, and Shameless.
Brandon P. Bell - Dr. Michael Peete
Another one of Mollys failed attempts at dating included Dr. Michael Peete played by Brandon P. Bell, who has continued to expand his career by landing leading roles in Netflix's Dear White People as Troy Fairbanks, the son of the Dean of the University. He also stared in the television series Traitors in 2019.
Sujata Day - Sarah
I know we all remember Issa D's first job at We Got Y'all, well we wanted to see what her co-worker Sarah has been up to. If you're a die hard follower of Issa Rae you know Sujata Day was also featured in Awkward Black Girl as one of her co-workers. Most recently Day has directed and starred in her first feature film called Definition Please which also stars Levar Burton. Since season one of Insecure she has been in films like Death Of A Telemarketer (2020) and For The Hits (2021).
Gail Bean - Rasheeda
Another character you may remember is the young Black associate from Molly's law firm, Rasheeda. The last time we see Rasheeda in the series she is being "reprimanded" for being "too loud" and not fitting into the culture at the law firm. Since her appearance in the show she has been busy working starring in a plethora of television series. Some shows include Chicago P.D. (2018), Atlanta (2018), BET's Games People Play (2019), Grey's Anatomy (2020), Paradise Lost (2020), and Snowfall (2018 - 2020). She's also expected to star in the television movie Robyn Hood in 2022.
Langston Kerman - Jered
One of our favorite crushes from season one is Jered, the Enterprise manager that Molly couldn't continue to date after she found out he had a sexual experience with another man. Well Langston Kerman is still making movies starring in Sherman's Showcase (2019), Southside (2019), You're Not A Monster (2019), Bless This Mess (2020), and The Boys (2020).
Tristen J. Winger - Thug Yoda
Do you remember Thug Yoda, the gang member, supportive father, and annoying but comedic neighbor from The Dunes? Well, Tristen J. Winger is no longer just a supporting character he is currently one of the stars of the BET+ series Bigger also starring Tanisha Long, Chase Anthony, Angel Conwell, and Rasheda Crockett.
