The Black Film Space
The Black Film Space in a non-profit organization. This podcasts mission is to help Black filmmakers grow with their craft. On their website they state, “Our mission is to provide skill-enhancing opportunities, community building experiences and knowledge on navigating the film industry for people of African descent.” The podcast currently has three seasons. Some of the many topics include, writing for television, how to pitch your show or movie, and producing for television. They also have plenty of guests such to discuss each topic. Some of the guests include, Zuko Nodada (Award-winning Director and Producer), Alece Oxendine (a Director of the Industry and Festival Outreach at Columbia Unoversity), and Terri Simone Francis (Director of the Black Film Center / Archive at the Indiana University).
Latinx Lens
Latinx Lens is created by Rosa Parra and Catherine Gonzales (a.k.a. Rosa and Cat) are two proud Latinas who talk about how film and television represent the Latinx community. Rosa and Cat give their audience different insights of film and television from a Latinx point of view within each episode. Latinx Lens was first developed when Rosa was disheartened that there was only a page and a half in a textbook that talked about Latinos in Hollywood, out of 500 pages. Catherine is her co-host and the first episode was released on Apple Podcasts in July of 2020. Some of the films Rosa and Cat talk about are The Night House (2020), The Protégé (2021), and the new Cinderella (2021) starring Camilla Cabello. One of the Mexican cinematographer they talked about is Emmanuel Lubezki, who is well known for his film, The Birdcage (1996).

This podcast is hosted by the founder of The Reel Effect Meah Denee and her best friend Trish, who love talking about movies! Meah and Trish are two film enthusiasts who talk about topics that revolve around the film industry, television, sex, and Black girl magic! It`s spooky season, which means Halloween is right around the corner! If you are looking for a podcast about underappreciated Latinx horror movies, then this one is perfect for you! UY QUE HORROR! A Latinx Horror Movie Podcast is hosted by Jonathan Atkinson and Aileen Clark. Episodes are released every week on Audible where Atkinson and Clark discuss movies. The films they discuss can be about a Latinx director, a movie from a Latin American country, a Latinx celebrity. Some of the movies the hosts discuss are the film Maligno, about an Amazonian evil spirit, who was trapped but ends up being released and begins its hunt for souls (2016), The Lost Platoon, which is the only horror movie about Nicaragua. This film follows an American reporter who discovers immortal soldiers, and a film from the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, El Esqueleto de la Senora Morales, about a man who plans a murder. This podcast began as a Facebook argument over Martin Lawrence`s performance in Blue Streak. Black Men Can`t Jump reviews movies with Black leads. Hosts, Jonathan Braylock, Jerah Milligan, and James III discuss Hollywood`s race and diversity issues. The three hosts analyze and review films which have main stars of color. Latinx Visions
Latinx Visions is a Baruch College podcast created by Professor Rojo Robles who teaches Black and Latino Studies and Rebecca Salois. The hosts discuss topics such as film, television, and more such as literature, art, and cultures. Robles and Salois explain, “We consider how these works are perceived, analyze them, and investigate the real-world reflections and implications of that work on Latinx cultures and communities in the US and beyond.” During their first season, they discussed the Latina/Cuban reboot of the TV show One Day at a Time. In their next episodes, they will talk about the novel Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo, which is set to be a television series.
